You can do your LTO MV registration online, but you still need to visit a PMVIC

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced that you can do motor vehicle registration online in five to ten minutes via the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS).

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade has announced that motorists can now renew their MV registration without going to a physical LTO district office.

All motorists need to do is have an account at the LTMS portal to register their vehicle online. However, there is a catch, as the new online MV renewal feature is only for plain renewal.

But…

Users who do not have their MV registration linked to their LTMS accounts can head to any LTO district office so that the agency’s personnel can do the transaction on the online portal.

Once this linking is done, the details of your vehicle should appear on the online portal, ready for when you want to renew it the following year.

Another but…

One thing to remember is that before motorists can begin their online vehicle transaction, they will need to get a Certificate of Coverage or insurance coverage for their vehicle along with an inspection done by a Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (PMVIC). These private inspection centers have access to the LTO’s LTMS system, whereas Private Emission Testing Centers do not.

“Both the validated insurance and the motor vehicle inspection report (MVIR) will be electronically sent to the LTMS. If your plate number ends with 3, you have the whole month to get your choice of insurance coverage, have your vehicle inspected in any PMVIC near you, and access the LTMS portal for the online renewal. There’s no need for vehicle owners to spend a whole day renewing the registration of their vehicles.” LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade

Remember to link your vehicle with your LTMS account so you can hassle-free register your car online.
