Video: We collect our new daily driver, the Perodua Ativa Hybrid! What do you want to know?

Perhaps one of the more exciting cars in Malaysia recently is the Perodua Ativa Hybrid, and it’s finally our turn to use one as our daily driver for the next few months. And just like all the other units on the road today, ours is one of the 300 leased too – we didn’t buy it!

5-lug wheels, a different front end, can you spot more differences?

Perodua’s first electrified model, as you know, is a rebadge of the Daihatsu Rocky e:Smart and as such is fully imported (CBU Japan). As such there are differences between it and the regular turbocharged Ativa sold here, chief among them is the powertrain.

The Ativa Hybrid is driven by a 106 PS/170 Nm electric motor, while its (82 PS/105 Nm) 1.2-litre WA-VEX three-cylinder petrol engine acts as a generator to charge up the 4.3 Ah lithium-ion battery.

In our hands, we’ll answer any burning questions you have (be sure to stay tuned to our YouTube, Facebook, TikTok too and leave a comment!) and share with you our thoughts on what is essentially, the future of Perodua.
