Vacuum oven – A Much Needed Equipment for the Advanced Laboratory

Vacuum oven is an essential part of any modern laboratory. It helps de-pyrogenetion of materiuals without the application of heat. While heating is the easiest method to dry, sometimes the application of heat may lead to denaturing of a substance. Also, heating does not make a material fully dry, and there is moisture that remains inside. A fully dry material, in the real meaning, can be obtained with the help of vacuum oven only.

Where can vacuum oven be applied?

These highly specialized ovens find use in different types of industries, like the pharma industry, plating applications, electronics industry etc. They are widely used for determination of moisture content, moisture testing, glassification and purification of solids, outgassing, curing, aging, food industry, drying of thermally unstable materials, powder drying at low temperature etc.

necessary.

Vacuum drying is not a new process but it has gained importance as of late due to its advantages over the conventional technique of drying by the application of heat. Vacuum drying is more efficient, offers faster drying, avoids damage due to oxidation during the drying process and is suitable for hardware like electronic goods. The best thing about it is that it ensures total drying with no amount of moisture left behind inside the substance.

The vacuum oven that is available with us can operate safely in the range of room temperature to 200 degrees Celsius. It is fitted with microprocessor based PID  controlling features so that the operating parameters can be digitally and accurately controlled. It also has vacuum gauge and over temperature protection so as to minimize the chance of any damage in case the temperature shots up higher than the safe operating range.

The digital timer displays the exact time of operation so as to avoid overheating or damage, while the teeho door lock makes sure that as long as the oven is operational, the door cannot be opened. The SS 304 perforated trays ensure a high grade of material used to make the oven, resulting in long lasting durability. The sealed chamber, a very important attribute, makes sure that there is least chance of any leakage or mishap during the operation of the oven.
