Proton’s subsidiary Pro-Net has appointed Hap Seng Smart Sdn. Bhd. as its first authorised dealer for the soon-to-be-launched electric-only Smart brand in Malaysia.
Hap Seng is a household name synonymous with Mercedes-Benz cars and with Smart now re-structured as a joint venture between Geely and Mercedes-Benz, it is only natural for Hap Seng to be its authorised dealer in Malaysia.
Geely’s local outpost Proton’s subsidiary Pro-Net (Proton New Energy Technology Sdn. Bhd.) is the distributor for Smart vehicles in Malaysia and Thailand.
The company will launch the Smart #1, a fully electric compact SUV in Malaysia by the fourth quarter of this year, followed by Thailand.
The first Smart showroom by Hap Seng is scheduled to be opened in the fourth quarter at Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur followed by another showroom in Balakong, Selangor.
“Pro-Net believes automotive excellence is more than creating the best vehicles. It also means providing a seamless and comprehensive retail customer journey and experience. The new dealership marks PRO-NET’s entry into the premium retail automotive market, as well as the latest EV market in Malaysia,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of Pro-Net.
