New 2023 Peugeot 2008 facelift debuts with new looks, e-2008 EV range up to 406 km

Close to 4 years after its initial introduction, Peugeot has given its 2008 B-segment SUV a mild-life facelift.

Visually, the already-handsome Peugeot 2008 gets even better looking in this update, encompassing Peugeot’s new signature lighting coupled with a new three claw lighting elements, which have been repositioned from the headlights to the bumper. The new headlights flank a revised front grille with the new Peugeot emblem.

Towards the rear-end of the updated Peugeot 2008, changes are limited to the new LED tail lights, now with slim, horizontal lighting elements.

Completing the exterior of the new Peugeot 2008 facelift are a new set of dual-tone alloy wheels with a more intricate design. Sizes range from 16-inch for the Activa variants, while the Allure and GT variants get 17-inch units. The GT can also be optioned with 18-inch wheels.

Peugeot’s signature i-Cockpit continues to be the main highlight of the facelifted Peugeot 2008, but Peugeot has revised the 2008 facelift’s digital instrument cluster. Sitting centrestage is a new 10-inch infotainment display.

In markets where the Peugeot 2008 is available with a manual transmission, the facelifted model gets a new gearshift knob for improved ergonomics. For models equipped with the automatic transmission, Peugeot said those models will continue with the compact-type shifter that was introduced in early-2022, though this would likely skip Malaysia as our local CKD units are fitted with a 6-speed automatic, as opposed to the 8-speed unit that other markets get.

As for powertrains, Peugeot will introduce a new petrol-electric 48-Volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) in early-2024, featuring a new PureTech 136 PS engine mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and electric motor.

Peugeot also improved the e-2008, essentially the battery electric vehicle (BEV) version of the 2008. It gets a new electric motor that bumps power output to 156 PS. At the same time, Peugeot also increased the battery capacity from 50 kWh to 54 kWh, bringing the total range to 406 km under the WLTP test cycle.
