Meet the eye-catching 428-PS Zeekr X crossover EV

Chinese luxury electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Zeekr is at it again – this time, it has an upcoming compact crossover called the Zeekr X.

The Zeekr X will be available in two versions and is expected to debut on March 2023 at the Shanghai Motor Show. One is the rear-wheel-drive model with 276 PS and an all-wheel-drive variant with 428 PS.

If the brand sounds familiar, it is the same company that produces the 009, a Toyota Alphard-sized, battery electric van with all-wheel drive and 541 PS. It can cosset passengers in reclining captain’s chairs as it hurtles from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Like the 009 and the Zeekr 001 sedan, it rides on the Geely Sustainable Experience Architecture platform, which is also used in the Lotus Eletre EV crossover, the Polestar 3 crossover, and the upcoming Polestar 5 sedan.

Geely owns both Lotus and Volvo, the latter producing EVs with Geely under the Polestar marque

Standout styling

Much like the perennially happy face on the Zeekr 009, the Zeekr X also has a rather eye-catching appearance.

It sports a more serious front end than its van sibling, with LED daytime running lights on the hoodline and lower bumper grills that form a rectangular shape.

The Zeekr X also has a very interesting side profile, using gloss-black accents on the bottom of the doors, the fenders, and the roof to create a sort of bowtie look.

The 20-inch, two-tone alloy wheels complement the car well, along with the beltline that hikes up at the rear door to the small rear-quarter window.

The rear end is, perhaps, the most stylish part of the EV crossover. The slim LED taillights wrap around the rear fender, while the lower bumper gets more gloss black, giving the car a rugged yet classy appearance.
