How to Vet the Best Shower Chair for the Elderly

It’s no secret that there are two unfortunate issues plaguing many shower chairs. They are expensive and they have tons of problems – at least many of them do.

That’s an incompatible pairing of issues, if you ask us. How can a thing that costs so much also be low-quality? It’s not justifiable.

That’s the angle this short post is taking. Here are a few ways to vet the quality to make sure you’re getting the best option for the money.

Durability, Construction from Corrosion-Resistant Materials

If it’s just a small shower bench, synthetic construction is fine, but if this is a chair with rails, you’ll want something more robust. Both aluminum and steel are fine. Aluminum is lighter, whereas steel is stronger, but if the chair is made with steel make sure it’s either stainless steel or has some sort of coating to protect it from corrosion.

Ease of Maintenance

Ideally, you want something that’s easy to take care of and keep clean. Chances are, you need a shower chair because you’re experiencing limited mobility yourself; either that or you are a caretaker. In either case, you can’t be worried about administering a high level of maintenance to a shower chair. Something you can wipe down and forget about is the best.
