GWM Haval H6 HEV makes public debut in Malaysia; 243 PS SUV to launch here alongside Jolion, Cannon pick-up

The 2023 Haval H6 hybrid (HEV) has just made its first public appearance in our country at the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow currently held in MAEPS Serdang.

Decked in blue, the SUV is one of the models earmarked in GWM’s plans for our market, which also entails the Haval Jolion and GWM Cannon series of pick-up trucks. The Ora Good Cat electric vehicle (EV) is also a GWM product, launched here in 2022.

Meanwhile the petrol-electric H6 HEV mates a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine to a 130 kW electric motor, good for a combined system output of 243 PS and 530 Nm. The system is paired to a DHT, Haval’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission.

Ride and handling comes courtesy of a MacPherson array up front, while at the back it employs a multi-link setup. Disc brakes all around, and it comes with 19-inch wheels.

Specs for Malaysia aren’t finalised just yet, but taking a leaf from Thailand, the exterior kit encapsulate LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED front foglamps, and roof rails. There’s also a powered tailgate.

Inside, the black and grey cabin is accentuated by rose gold accents, and a smattering of ambient lights. Seats are synthetic leather, and there’s 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, while the passenger gets a 4-way electrical assistance.

The instrument cluster is digital (10.25-inches), and the infotainment system is 12.3-inches, the latter coming with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Comfort features extend to automatic air-conditioning with rear vents, 4 USB ports, and 8 speakers.

  • Traffic Jam Assist (TJA)
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
  • Lane Departure Assist (LDA)
  • Wisdom Dodge System (WDS)

The Haval H6 is earmarked for a Malaysian introduction this year (besides the GWM Cannon pick-up), making it one more contender the Proton X70 has to face.
