Biddings for the hotly sought after FF number plate series, which ran from 14-May to 19-May 2023, has ended with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) netting RM 34,296,327 in revenue.

Total bids received for FF plates have bested all previous number plates series, recording the highest total bids since JPJ introduced the online eBid system on 15-April 2019.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said a total of 34,032 persons applied to bid, but only 8,348 succeeded in their bids.

The highest bids went to the following:

  • FF8 – RM 950,000
  • FF9 – RM 911,999
  • FF3 – RM 639,000
  • FF2 – RM 638,000
  • FF7 – RM 633,000

FF 199 was the most popular number, with 34 bids, followed by FF 51 with 32 bids. FF 155, FF 555, and FF 1688 received 29 bids each.

If you are looking for an answer on why there is a frenzy to spend silly money on FF series plates, unfortunately there is no logical reason behind it, other than money is just a number.

FF doesn’t mean anything, and it’s unrelated to Fast X movie.

Others say FF plates are the last double-alphabet, mirror image number plate series.
