EXCLUSIVE: Honda HR-V supply issue might improve in 3-4 months — Honda Cars Philippines

2023 Honda HR-V RS

When the all-new Honda HR-V first debuted on April 2022, it was another hit for the Japanese automaker, with orders stacking up for the crossover.

However, production delays and global parts shortages kept units from getting into the hands of eager customers.

That’s why Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) had to post a public advisory on September 2022, explaining to customers that they might have to wait longer to get their HR-V and that delivery schedules were “uncertain.”

Fast-forward seven months and there are still delays for the Honda HR-V, with some dealerships citing three-month waiting times for the crossover.

Worth waiting for

During a recent media drive for the Honda BR-V, AutoFun Philippines Senior Writer VJ Bacungan was able to speak exclusively with HCPI assistant vice president Misa Abe.

She said the Japanese automaker has made moves to address the unit-shortage situation.

“We are trying to resolve this situation, and it’s not finalized yet, but maybe in the coming three or four months, we can improve this situation so we can deliver our HR-V units to our waiting customers,” said Abe.

“It’s difficult to announce an exact waiting period,” she continued. “We can start consistent delivery from the next four months, five months later, so please wait.”

It looks like a timeline is set for Honda Cars Philippines to address the HR-V shortage, as more units are expected to arrive in the country in the next three to four months.

Customers can breathe easier knowing that more units are on the way and that the supply chain for the HR-V could stabilize in the next four to five months.

It’s nice to see an automaker willing to release information about vehicle updates, especially when there are backlog orders to fill to keep interested buyers updated.
