EXCLUSIVE: 2023 Honda BR-V breaches 3,000 unit sales in 5 months — Honda Cars Philippines

When Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) launched the 2023 Honda BR-V, it knew it had a hit on its hands and had to prepare for the eventual demand for the seven-seater.

It’s why the Japanese automaker brought in a large shipment of units to ensure all orders and reservations for the car were met.

It was also a preemptive measure to ensure that customers get their cars and to prevent supply chain issues similar to the Honda HR-V, where there’s a long waiting period developed to get your hands on a unit.

Selling like hotcakes

HCPI invited us on a quick media drive with the Honda BR-V, where Senior Writer VJ Bacungan was able to speak exclusively with HCPI executives about the BR-V’s sales performance.

“For the BR-V, we already sold over a thousand units, and actually, including the first month of its sales in November (2022), the reservations were already beyond one thousand units,” said HCPI section manager for production planning Maiko Viar.

HCPI told AutoFun Philippines in a separate statement that sales for the seven-seater have breached 3,000 units as of April 2023.

The Japanese carmaker is looking to capture 20 percent of the small sport-utility vehicle (SUV) market this year. This equates to one in every five small SUVs sold in the Philippines being a BR-V

600-700 units a month sold

Autofun Philippines also asked HCPI assistant vice president Misa Abe about the monthly sales figures for the Honda BR-V.

She said that, on average, HCPI sells 600 to 700 units of the seven-seater a month. Unfortunately, we could not get a variant breakdown of the sales of the BR-V, but these are solid figures for the seven-seater, regardless.

It’s easy to see why the Honda BR-V is selling so well
– it packs the most powerful engine in its segment and is available with the Honda Safety Sense suite of active safety features.

It’s also one of the safest seven-seater cars on the market, with a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating.
