The Everest three passes trek is moderately challenging in the Everest region. The popular and challenging passes such as Kongma La pass, Cho la pass, and Renjo la pass are the major passes that created the topic Everest three passes. The route to Everest three passes begins from Lukla. The bank of Dudhkoshi, the forest trail, small villages, and the greenery of Sagarmatha National Park are major attractions of trekking.

Short itinerary to Everest three passes
Day 1: Flight to Lukla(2886m/9437ft) and trek to Phakding (3450m)
The first day of Everest three passes trek begins with thrilling flight to Lukla. It takes around 30 minutes to reach Lukla via flight. After enjoying the breakfast Lukla we will trek to Phakding.
Day 2: Trek to Namche (3789m)
After having breakfast in Phakding we will continue to trek towards Namche. The uphills and downhills to Namche are quite difficult and challenging but every traveler can do it.
Day 3: Rest day in Namche
To acclimatize the body for increasing altitude and changing climatic condition we will take rest in Namche. Taking rest in Namche doesn’t mean we will only stay in hotel. It includes hiking to Khumjung village, Everest view hotel and Syangboche airport. Going to high altitude and returning to lower altitude is key practice we apply for acclimatization.
Day 4: Trek to Thame village (3800m)
Leaving Namche, we will trek towards Thame. Walking around 3 – 4 hours will cover the distance from Namche to Thame.
Day 5: Trek to Marlung village (4137m)
After enjoying the breakfast in Thame we will trek towards Marlung. Passing the bank of Dudhkoshi, rocky trial, main walls and Chorten we will reach Marlung.
Day 6: Trek to Lungdeng(4600m)
Today’s trial also required strong stamina for walking around 5,6 hours. We will walk on the bank of Dudhkoshi passing the rocky trial with difficult uphills to reach Lungdeng. We can enjoy the amazing view of snowcapped Shar, Nupla, Thyangmoche, Nup and Lho peak.
Day 7: Trek to Renjo-La pass (5465m) and Gokyo lake (4800m)
After having breakfast in Lungdeng we will trek towards Renjo-La pass, one of the greatest pass of Everest three pass. We will pass Lumde, south bank of Angladumba tsho and reach Tenjo La pass and trek towards Gokyo lake.
We will take rest in Gokyo and explore Gokyo lakes 1st, 2nd and 3rd during the day.
Day 9: Hike to Gokyo Ri (5330m) and explore the Gokyo lakes.
We will wakeup early in the morning and hike to Gokyo ri for sunrise view on snowcapped peaks. After spending an hour in Gokyo ri we will trek down in Gokyo and enjoy the day by exploring the Gokyo lakes.
Day 10: Trek to Cho-la Pass (5376m), Dzongla (4850m), 5-6hrs walk
Today we will trek towards Cho la pass and reach Dzongla for night stay. After passing Cho La pass the high passes complete and risk will decrease.
Day 11: Trek to Kongma La (5535m)
We will trek down to Kongma La and enjoy the amazing view of mountains.
Day 12: Trek to Chhukung (4750m)
Chhukung is another beautiful village that gives amazing view of Island peak and other snow capped peaks. The coolest bridge retain yourself from tiredness
Day 13: Trek to Tyangboche (3867m)
We will leave Chhukung and trek down to Tyangboche. Each of the destination gives amazing view of mountains and soowcapped landscape.
Day 14: Trek to Monjo (2680m)
From Tengboche we will trek down towards Monjo for night stay. Amazing view of Amadablam and its surrounding range from trial to Namche – Tengboche is amazing.
Day 15: Trek to Lukla (2800m)
We will cover two days route in single day. We will reach Phakding for Lunch and walk 3,4 hours to reach Lukla from Phakding.
Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu (1300m)
After getting our boarding pass we will fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Sometime we may have to wait few hour or a day to have a flight due to bad weather.
Best time for Everest three passes trek
Trekking in Nepal is challenging and difficult in case you don’t choose best time for trekking. If you are planning for trekking Everest three passes then always choose spring or autumn in Nepal. March, April, May, September, October and November are the best months to trek in Nepal for three passes trek. You will get moderate temperature, pleasant weather during these months.
