Even with that face, the 2023 Toyota Yaris still outsold the City Hatchback in Thailand in April

The phrase “never judge a book by its cover” doesn’t seem to apply to the Toyota Yaris which has been given a conflicted-looking makeover recently in Thailand. Beauty can be subjective but it doesn’t really strike much to the 2023 Toyota Yaris facelift as it became the Kingdom’s best-selling B-segment hatchback in April.

According to sales data published by Autolife Thailand, 2,288 units of the refreshed Toyota Yaris have been sold that month which translates to nearly half of the total hatchback sales in April.

Meanwhile, the Honda City Hatchback saw 1,094 units being sold in the same period. While it took second place in April, the City Hatchback remained Thailand’s best-selling B-segment hatchback of 2023 so far with 7,665 units sold ahead of the Yaris’ 4,739 units.

Taking third place in April is the Suzuki Swift with 557 units sold which puts it in the same position overall behind the City Hatchback and Yaris with 2,020 units sold so far.

The biggest improvement though belonged to the Mazda 2 Hatchback which climbed to fourth place in April with 321 units sold. However, Mazda’s littlest car outside of the rebadged Suzuki kei cars is placed last overall in terms of sales for the first 4 months of 2023.
