Leaked images of the BMW i5 have surfaced ahead of its global reveal next week on 24-May, providing the clearest look yet of the upcoming electric vehicle (EV). The i5 is the EV version of the upcoming all-new G60 2023 BMW 5 Series.
Based on the leaked images, the front fascia is more angular than before with sharper headlamps and a larger kidney grille. The lower front bumper sports a more prominent central intake, larger and hexagonal in shape, similar to the facelifted (LCI) G20 3 Series.
Like all recent BMW models, its door handles are flush with the body. While no leaked images of the rear are available, a spyshot of the 5 Series suggests slimmer taillights and sleeker C-pillars.
Earlier this year, BMW announced that the i5 will be available in two variants at introduction – the M60 xDrive and eDrive40. Specific details such as power outputs, battery capacities, and range have yet to be released.
The new 5 Series will incorporate BMW’s ninth-generation Vertical Dynamics Management system, which controls the electronically controlled dampers of the Adaptive Suspension Professional.
The new suspension system is said to offer ride comfort comparable to the BMW 7 Series and the dynamic agility found in the BMW 3 Series, essentially the best of both worlds. Bold claims indeed.
The official unveiling of the G60 2023 BMW 5 Series and BMW i5 is scheduled for May 24, where further information will be disclosed.
Production of the G60 BMW 5 Series Sedan is set to commence in summer 2023 at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in Bavaria, with market availability expected to begin in October 2023.
