Atlas OS update for infotainment in Proton X50, X70, Iriz, Exora, Persona, claims to improve performance

For those who have a Proton X50, X70, Iriz, Persona, or Exora with Proton’s current-generation head unit, the company recommends users to update their software.

Proton recently shared a post on their Facebook page, recommending owners of the aforementioned models to update the Atlas OS software on their Infotainment Head Unit (IHU), ensuring that users get a smoother experience.

Proton also added that they are gradually migrating to a new cloud server to serve customers better.

Older GKUI19 OS shown

Said software update is available from 1-January till 31-March and is available as an over-the-air (OTA) update. Just like other IHU updates, downloading the software update does not count against the owner’s data quota and their car’s engine should be running to ensure that the update process completes without a hitch.

That being said, the older X70 and Exora that still runs on GKUI cannot be updated to this latest software version. Instead, users are encouraged to update to the latest version of GKUI available to them via OTA as part of the migration process.

The Proton Saga’s head unit cannot be updated via OTA

This software update is not applicable to the Proton Saga as this A-segment sedan runs on a different software version and lacks data connectivity for OTA updates.
