A more affordable mini Lexus UX? Lexus teases upcoming Lexus LBX to launch on June 5

2024 Lexus LBX front teaser

Lexus is on a roll this first half of 2023. First, the Lexus LM luxury MPV debuted in Shanghai, then the TX-midsize crossover was revealed, and then there was the all-new GX SUV. And now, Toyota’s luxury marque is planning to launch another vehicle to be called the Lexus LBX.

The Lexus LBX is yet another crossover that could have some electric vehicle (EV) potential. The new car will likely be a crossover and may slot under the RZ as a more affordable albeit smaller option, but keep in mind that little is known about the upcoming model.

2024 Lexus LBX teaser rear

Lexus has been quiet about the details of the upcoming model, only releasing two teaser photos of the vehicle with the taillights and a section of its front fascia. The first image reveals the sleek LED headlights and part of the front fascia with a frameless grille. The other image shows the crossover’s rear with LED taillights stretching across its width.

If we look at the naming convention of the luxury Japanese brand, we can get a few clues as to what the LBX could be. The ‘X’ in the name suggests that it will be a crossover or a high-riding SUV, similar to how the Lexus RX, UX, and NX are named. The B could indicate that the new vehicle will likely target the B-segment.

Lexus has yet to reveal the sizing of the vehicle, but given its naming convention, it may slot with or under the Lexus UX or NX in terms of sizing.

Reports have also indicated that the new vehicle may utilize Toyota’s TNGA-B platform in the Toyota Yaris Cross. It means the new Lexus crossover could access Toyota’s 1.5-liter hybrid system and its other available gasoline powerplants.

As only a few details are available for the upcoming crossover, we will update you with more information as it comes our way.

What do you think of the Lexus LBX? Will it be a more affordable option if it enters the Philippine market?
