Toyota C-HR yang terkenal dengan rekaan berani nampaknya sudah tiba ke penghujungnya. Menurut laman laman automotif Kuruma News, Toyota C-HR akan dihentikan jualannya di Jepun pada Julai 2023.
Toyota C-HR generasi sekarang telah wujud sejak 2016, 14-Disember tahun itu merupakan tarikh sebenar debut Jepun.
Ia merupakan model kedua yang dibangunkan daripada platform Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-C) (selepas Prius generasi ke-4), model Compact High Rider itu turut dijual di negara-negara Asia lain, Eropah, Australia, Afrika Selatan, Amerika Utara dan juga di Asia Tenggara.
Jualan begitu menggalakkan dalam beberapa tahun pertamanya di Jepun, mencapai kemuncaknya dengan 117,299 unit setahun pada 2017 sebelum mula merosot apabila menghadapi persaingan yang lebih terkini dan sengit ketika tahun-tahun seterusnya.

Kisah ini agak sama di Malaysia juga. Toyota C-HR membuat kemunculan sulung di sini pada tahun 2018, berharga sekitar RM 150,000 – harga yang tinggi berikutan status import sepenuhnya (CBU Thailand). Sememangnya SUV kecil itu tidak bertahan lama untuk pasaran kita lebih-lebih lagi ia digantikan oleh Toyota Corolla Cross yang lebih menarik pada tahun 2021.
Ketika artikel ini ditulis, Toyota C-HR masih dijual di Thailand dan di pasaran Eropah tertentu termasuk United Kingdom.
Bagaimana dengan Toyota C-HR generasi baharu?
Ia bukan pengakhiran total untuk model ini kerana Toyota C-HR serba baharu masih dalam perancangan; malah berdasarkan model konsep yang dipaparkan, Toyota nampaknya masih belum berputus asa dengan pesaing tepat Honda HR-V ini.
Model konsep yang dimaksudkan adalah Toyota C-HR Prologue Concept. Secara asasnya, model konsep ini mengacah generasi kedua SUV unik tersebut. Butiran model itu masih terhad pada ketika ini tetapi rangkaian kuasa hibrid dan plug-in hybrid (PHEV) telah disahkan.
