Barisan di kaunter Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) cukup meriah semalam (8 Mei) apabila peluang untuk memperbaharui Lesen Memandu Malaysia (LMM) bagi tempoh 10 tahun mula dibuka untuk semua rakyat Malaysia.
Menteri Pengangkutan, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, melawat Ibu Pejabat JPJ Negeri Sembilan semalam untuk memperbaharui lesen memandunya bagi tempoh 10 tahun dan mendapati inisiatif ini mendapat sambutan luar jangkaan. Orang ramai mula beratur di kaunter JPJ seawal 8 pagi, katanya kepada BH Online.
“Mereka hanya perlu pergi ke kaunter JPJ untuk membuat permohonan. Orang ramai akan dapat memperbaharui lesen mereka selama 10 tahun dalam kadar segera,” katanya.
Jelasnya, pembaharuan untuk lesen memandu/LMM 10 tahun akan dikenakan caj RM 270 sahaja (diskaun 1 tahun). Bagi lesen yang sudah tamat tempoh sebelum tarikh pelaksanaan (8 Mei) pula, pemegang lesen dikenakan caj pelarasan berjumlah RM 30.
Ini bermaksud jika lesen sudah ‘mati’ sebelum diperbaharui, pemegang lesen berkenaan perlu membayar RM 300 untuk memperbaharuinya bagi tempoh 10 tahun.
Tambahnya lagi, permohonan untuk lesen memandu 10 tahun ini belum dapat dilaksanakan di kaunter Pos Malaysia berikutan perbezaan sistem komputer Pos Malaysia dan sistem JPJ. Oleh itu, ia hanya boleh dilakukan di kaunter JPJ atau melalui Kiosk JPJ menerusi aplikasi MyJPJ.

Pada minggu lalu, Kementerian Pengangkutan (MOT) mengumumkan dasar baru bagi pembaharuan LMM bagi tempoh 10 tahun dengan diskaun fi 1 tahun, berbanding had tempoh sah selama 5 tahun sebelum ini.
Inisiatif lain termasuklah memberi kemudahan khas iaitu tidak perlu menjalani semula ujian memandu untuk memperbaharui LMM kepada pemegang lesen ‘mati’ sejak 1 Januari 2018. Kemudahan ini diberi sehingga 31 Disember 2023.
