Changan Motor Philippines Inc. (CMPI) is eyeing to showcase its technicians internationally as the brand enters the First Changan Global Skills Competition.

The competition aims to recognize the skills and capabilities of top-performing service professionals across the brand’s global distributorship network.

It also seeks to inspire other service teams to strive for excellence to fulfill the brand’s promise of “Lasting Safety.”

Jayson Ambata, Service Advisor of Changan Sta. Rosa Laguna, and Ponciano De Jesus, a Service Technician of Changan Heroes Hills, were the chosen representatives for the Philippines.

They were the champions of the First Changan National Skills Competition in March 2023, also proving their mettle and earning top scores at last April’s Regional Skills Competition, beating contenders from Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Pakistan, and Russia.

They will now compete on the global stage on June 2023 at the Changan International Corporation (CIC) headquarters in Chongqing, China.

“The fact that Changan International Corporation invited us to compete in their First Global Skills Competition signals our readiness in the area of Service to bolster Changan’s bid to accelerate its global expansion,” said CMPI President and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo.

After Sales is the backbone of our business and I am proud of the world-class teams who are driving it,” she added.

Despite CMPI being fairly new to the local market, as the brand launched in November 2022, it aims to drive change in the local automotive scene with its lineup of products known globally for its uncompromising quality and lasting safety.

CMPI is backed by CIC, which carries 160 years of excellence in business and manufacturing. CIC is one of the largest Chinese car brand manufacturers by volume, producing vehicles under several brands such as Oshan and Kaicene.

In 2022, it was able to increase its sales volume by 4.9 percent year-on-year to 2,053,000 units, ranking it fifth amongst China’s car manufacturer groups.

It holds about a 20 percent market share in China and has joint ventures with well-known international companies, such as Fiat-Chrysler, Honda, Kia, Mazda, Ford, and Suzuki, just to name a few.

With backing from CIC, CMPI hopes to be a powerhouse in the Philippine market as it continuously expands its dealership network to better service and reach a wider audience.
