One of the most highly-anticipated cars this year, the 2023 Proton X90 is confirmed to launch on 7-May 2023 at 3pm local time. Expect daily teasers of Proton’s first 7-seater SUV over the course of the next five days.
The Proton X90 is available in 4 variants, all of which are powered by a mild-hybrid (MHEV) 3-cylinder turbocharged 1.5-litre engine with a 48V starter generator. The system produces 190 PS and 300 Nm combined and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

Unique to the X90 is the rear multi-link suspension as opposed to a rear torsion beam set-up as seen in the donor vehicle, the Geely Haoyue/Okavango. The top-of-the-line Flagship variant gets a 6-seat arrangement while lower rung variants get a 7-seat configuration.

The Premium and Flagship variants are equipped with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features including:
- Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
- Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
- Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC, works from 0 to 150 km/h)
- Lane Change Assist (LCA)
- Rear Collision Warning (RCW)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- Traffic Sign Information (TSI)
- Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC)

Bookings of the 2023 Proton X90 have been open since 11-April, and will only be sold at Proton 3S / 4S outlets. Showroom-only 1S outlets will not carry the model.
