Linksys Velop Not Getting Signals from Primary Node [Fixed]

A Linksys Velop mesh system consists of certain units called nodes that work seamlessly to fill the house with a lag-free internet connection. From the word seamlessly, it is very clear that all the nodes are supposed to be interconnected. It happens if you connect all the nodes to the primary node; the node that shares a direct (Ethernet) connection with the modem. But, these days, problems regarding the connection between the primary and secondary nodes have increased. People say that their Linksys Velop is not getting signals from the primary node. We want to tell such users that this generally happens when the node falls victim to a technical glitch. Therefore, if you are also facing the same problem, we recommend you power cycle the node. Just make sure that you do not witness the Linksys Velop stuck on blue situation as that requires troubleshooting too i.e. the factory default reset. After power cycling the node, check if the connection becomes possible. If not, you need to follow the hacks given below.

Solved: Linksys Velop Not Getting Signals from Parent Node

  • Restart the Entire Mesh System: In the very beginning, we asked you to restart the node that was not getting signals from the primary node. But, there is a possibility that other nodes present in the mesh system are not allowing the connection. Therefore, we recommend you power cycle the entire mesh system. You need to follow a particular sequence if you want to power cycle the mesh system. The primary node is supposed to be powered down first whereas other nodes can be powered down in any sequence. You must wait for 15 minutes now and power up all the nodes in the same order as you powered them down.
  • Look for Signal Interference: There is a high possibility that the node that is not getting connected to the primary node because of the WiFi signal interference. In that scenario, you should look at the surroundings of your WiFi mesh units. None of them is supposed to be placed close to a device emitting electromagnetic waves, objects containing a large amount of water, and reflexive surfaces. As far as metal objects are concerned, they must also be placed too far from your WiFi mesh units i.e. Linksys Velop nodes.
After following the 3 hacks mentioned above, you will be able to connect your Linksys Velop mesh system properly. Just in case you fail, consider updating the firmware of the Velop system by accessing the Linksys Velop login URL on a device connected to the mesh system. You can also use the Linksys app for the same. To Sum Up That’s all about what to do if the Linksys Velop is not getting signals from the primary node. We are hopeful that the connection will be successful after certain hit and trials. On the off chance, it doesn’t, you must not wait and perform the factory default reset of the entire mesh system. Just press the Reset button on all the nodes. Now, you also have the choice to swap the roles of nodes. It means you can set up primary as secondary and vice-versa.
