2023 Chery Omoda 5 makes public debut in Malaysia, 2 variants to launch soon

This is it – Chery Malaysia is set to make its return to Malaysia after a 5-year hiatus. The Wuhu-based marque is currently showcasing its range of models at the 2023 Malaysia Autoshow. Visitors to the autoshow can even test drive the Omoda 5, happening from 4-May to 7-May at MAEPS Serdang.

Seen here is the 2023 Chery Omoda 5, a B-segment SUV that will enter a highly-contested segment populated by models like the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-30, Proton X50, and Toyota Corolla Cross.

For the Malaysian market, the Chery Omoda 5 will be powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 147 PS and 230 Nm, delivered to the front wheels via a CVT automatic transmission.

Feature set for the Malaysian-spec Chery Omoda 5 is rather extensive, bundling stuff like automatic LED headlights, acoustic windshield, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The more expensive H variant adds goodies like power tailgate, power sunroof, and sequential LED turn signals.

Inside, both variants of the Ompoda 5 are fitted with a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, PM 2.5 air filtration, as well as a Qi wireless charging pad.
